الْعَلَقِ

ٱقۡرَأۡ بِٱسۡمِ رَبِّكَ ٱلَّذِي خَلَقَ

Translation: Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِنۡ عَلَقٍ

Translation: Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood

ٱقۡرَأۡ وَرَبُّكَ ٱلۡأَكۡرَمُ

Translation: Proclaim! And thy Lord is Most Bountiful

ٱلَّذِي عَلَّمَ بِٱلۡقَلَمِ

Translation: He Who taught (the use of) the pen

عَلَّمَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مَا لَمۡ يَعۡلَمۡ

Translation: Taught man that which he knew not

كَلَّآ إِنَّ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ لَيَطۡغَىٰٓ

Translation: Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds

أَن رَّءَاهُ ٱسۡتَغۡنَىٰٓ

Translation: In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient

إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ ٱلرُّجۡعَىٰٓ

Translation: Verily, to thy Lord is the return (of all)

أَرَءَيۡتَ ٱلَّذِي يَنۡهَىٰ

Translation: Seest thou one who forbids

عَبۡدًا إِذَا صَلَّىٰٓ

Translation: A votary when he (turns) to pray

أَرَءَيۡتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى ٱلۡهُدَىٰٓ

Translation: Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance

أَوۡ أَمَرَ بِٱلتَّقۡوَىٰٓ

Translation: Or enjoins Righteousness

أَرَءَيۡتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰٓ

Translation: Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away

أَلَمۡ يَعۡلَم بِأَنَّ ٱللَّهَ يَرَىٰ

Translation: Knoweth he not that Allah doth see

كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمۡ يَنتَهِ لَنَسۡفَعَۢا بِٱلنَّاصِيَةِ

Translation: Let him beware! If he desist not, We will drag him by the forelock

نَاصِيَةࣲ كَٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةࣲ

Translation: A lying, sinful forelock

فَلۡيَدۡعُ نَادِيَهُۥ

Translation: Then, let him call (for help) to his council (of comrades)

سَنَدۡعُ ٱلزَّبَانِيَةَ

Translation: We will call on the angels of punishment (to deal with him)

كَلَّا لَا تُطِعۡهُ وَٱسۡجُدۡۤ وَٱقۡتَرِب۩

Translation: Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)
