بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

verse 1

وَٱلنَّٰزِعَٰتِ غَرۡقࣰ ا

Translation: By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence

verse 2

وَٱلنَّٰشِطَٰتِ نَشۡطࣰ ا

Translation: By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed)

verse 3

وَٱلسَّٰبِحَٰتِ سَبۡحࣰ ا

Translation: And by those who glide along (on errands of mercy)

verse 4

فَٱلسَّٰبِقَٰتِ سَبۡقࣰ ا

Translation: Then press forward as in a race

verse 5

فَٱلۡمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمۡرࣰ ا

Translation: Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord)

verse 6

يَوۡمَ تَرۡجُفُ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ

Translation: One Day everything that can be in commotion will be in violent commotion

verse 7

تَتۡبَعُهَا ٱلرَّادِفَةُ

Translation: Followed by oft-repeated (commotions)

verse 8

قُلُوبࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ وَاجِفَةٌ

Translation: Hearts that Day will be in agitation

verse 9

أَبۡصَٰرُهَا خَٰشِعَةࣱ

Translation: Cast down will be (their owners') eyes

verse 10

يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرۡدُودُونَ فِي ٱلۡحَافِرَةِ

Translation: They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state

verse 11

أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰمࣰ ا نَّخِرَةࣰ

Translation: What! - when we shall have become rotten bones

verse 12

قَالُواْ تِلۡكَ إِذࣰ ا كَرَّةٌ خَاسِرَةࣱ

Translation: They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss

verse 13

فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجۡرَةࣱ وَٰحِدَةࣱ

Translation: But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry

verse 14

فَإِذَا هُم بِٱلسَّاهِرَةِ

Translation: When, behold, they will be in the (full) awakening (to Judgment)

verse 15

هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ

Translation: Has the story of Moses reached thee

verse 16

إِذۡ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلۡوَادِ ٱلۡمُقَدَّسِ طُوًى

Translation: Behold, thy Lord did call to him in the sacred valley of Tuwa

verse 17

ٱذۡهَبۡ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ

Translation: Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds

verse 18

فَقُلۡ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ

Translation: And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)

verse 19

وَأَهۡدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخۡشَىٰ

Translation: And that I guide thee to thy Lord, so thou shouldst fear Him

verse 20

فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلۡأٓيَةَ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ

Translation: Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign

verse 21

فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ

Translation: But (Pharaoh) rejected it and disobeyed (guidance)

verse 22

ثُمَّ أَدۡبَرَ يَسۡعَىٰ

Translation: Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah)

verse 23

فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ

Translation: Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation

verse 24

فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ

Translation: Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High

verse 25

فَأَخَذَهُ ٱللَّهُ نَكَالَ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰٓ

Translation: But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life

verse 26

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لَعِبۡرَةࣰ لِّمَن يَخۡشَىٰٓ

Translation: Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah)

verse 27

ءَأَنتُمۡ أَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُۚ بَنَىٰهَا

Translation: What! Are ye the more difficult to create or the heaven (above)? (Allah) hath constructed it

verse 28

رَفَعَ سَمۡكَهَا فَسَوَّىٰهَا

Translation: On high hath He raised its canopy, and He hath given it order and perfection

verse 29

وَأَغۡطَشَ لَيۡلَهَا وَأَخۡرَجَ ضُحَىٰهَا

Translation: Its night doth He endow with darkness, and its splendour doth He bring out (with light)

verse 30

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ ذَٰلِكَ دَحَىٰهَآ

Translation: And the earth, moreover, hath He extended (to a wide expanse)

verse 31

أَخۡرَجَ مِنۡهَا مَآءَهَا وَمَرۡعَىٰهَا

Translation: He draweth out therefrom its moisture and its pasture

verse 32

وَٱلۡجِبَالَ أَرۡسَىٰهَا

Translation: And the mountains hath He firmly fixed

verse 33

مَتَٰعࣰ ا لَّكُمۡ وَلِأَنۡعَٰمِكُمۡ

Translation: For use and convenience to you and your cattle

verse 34

فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلطَّآمَّةُ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ

Translation: Therefore, when there comes the great, overwhelming (Event)

verse 35

يَوۡمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ

Translation: The Day when man shall remember (all) that he strove for

verse 36

وَبُرِّزَتِ ٱلۡجَحِيمُ لِمَن يَرَىٰ

Translation: And Hell-Fire shall be placed in full view for (all) to see

verse 37

فَأَمَّا مَن طَغَىٰ

Translation: Then, for such as had transgressed all bounds

verse 38

وَءَاثَرَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا

Translation: And had preferred the life of this world

verse 39

فَإِنَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ هِيَ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ

Translation: The Abode will be Hell-Fire

verse 40

وَأَمَّا مَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفۡسَ عَنِ ٱلۡهَوَىٰ

Translation: And for such as had entertained the fear of standing before their Lord's (tribunal) and had restrained (their) soul from lower desires

verse 41

فَإِنَّ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ هِيَ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ

Translation: Their abode will be the Garden

verse 42

يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرۡسَىٰهَا

Translation: They ask thee about the Hour,-'When will be its appointed time

verse 43

فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكۡرَىٰهَآ

Translation: Wherein art thou (concerned) with the declaration thereof

verse 44

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ

Translation: With thy Lord in the Limit fixed therefor

verse 45

إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن يَخۡشَىٰهَا

Translation: Thou art but a Warner for such as fear it

verse 46

كَأَنَّهُمۡ يَوۡمَ يَرَوۡنَهَا لَمۡ يَلۡبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوۡ ضُحَىٰهَا

Translation: The Day they see it, (It will be) as if they had tarried but a single evening, or (at most till) the following morn
