الرَّحْمٰنِ

The Beneficent

The Beneficent

78 verses Medinan

بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

verse 1

ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ

Translation: (Allah) Most Gracious

verse 2

عَلَّمَ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانَ

Translation: It is He Who has taught the Qur'an

verse 3

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ

Translation: He has created man

verse 4

عَلَّمَهُ ٱلۡبَيَانَ

Translation: He has taught him speech (and intelligence)

verse 5

ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ بِحُسۡبَانࣲ

Translation: The sun and the moon follow courses (exactly) computed

verse 6

وَٱلنَّجۡمُ وَٱلشَّجَرُ يَسۡجُدَانِ

Translation: And the herbs and the trees - both (alike) prostrate in adoration

verse 7

وَٱلسَّمَآءَ رَفَعَهَا وَوَضَعَ ٱلۡمِيزَانَ

Translation: And the Firmament has He raised high, and He has set up the Balance (of Justice)

verse 8

أَلَّا تَطۡغَوۡاْ فِي ٱلۡمِيزَانِ

Translation: In order that ye may not transgress (due) balance

verse 9

وَأَقِيمُواْ ٱلۡوَزۡنَ بِٱلۡقِسۡطِ وَلَا تُخۡسِرُواْ ٱلۡمِيزَانَ

Translation: So establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance

verse 10

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ وَضَعَهَا لِلۡأَنَامِ

Translation: It is He Who has spread out the earth for (His) creatures

verse 11

فِيهَا فَٰكِهَةࣱ وَٱلنَّخۡلُ ذَاتُ ٱلۡأَكۡمَامِ

Translation: Therein is fruit and date-palms, producing spathes (enclosing dates)

verse 12

وَٱلۡحَبُّ ذُو ٱلۡعَصۡفِ وَٱلرَّيۡحَانُ

Translation: Also corn, with (its) leaves and stalk for fodder, and sweet-smelling plants

verse 13

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 14

خَلَقَ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنَ مِن صَلۡصَٰلࣲ كَٱلۡفَخَّارِ

Translation: He created man from sounding clay like unto pottery

verse 15

وَخَلَقَ ٱلۡجَآنَّ مِن مَّارِجࣲ مِّن نَّارࣲ

Translation: And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke

verse 16

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 17

رَبُّ ٱلۡمَشۡرِقَيۡنِ وَرَبُّ ٱلۡمَغۡرِبَيۡنِ

Translation: (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests

verse 18

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 19

مَرَجَ ٱلۡبَحۡرَيۡنِ يَلۡتَقِيَانِ

Translation: He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together

verse 20

بَيۡنَهُمَا بَرۡزَخࣱ لَّا يَبۡغِيَانِ

Translation: Between them is a Barrier which they do not transgress

verse 21

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 22

يَخۡرُجُ مِنۡهُمَا ٱللُّؤۡلُؤُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ

Translation: Out of them come Pearls and Coral

verse 23

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 24

وَلَهُ ٱلۡجَوَارِ ٱلۡمُنشَـَٔاتُ فِي ٱلۡبَحۡرِ كَٱلۡأَعۡلَٰمِ

Translation: And His are the Ships sailing smoothly through the seas, lofty as mountains

verse 25

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 26

كُلُّ مَنۡ عَلَيۡهَا فَانࣲ

Translation: All that is on earth will perish

verse 27

وَيَبۡقَىٰ وَجۡهُ رَبِّكَ ذُو ٱلۡجَلَٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ

Translation: But will abide (for ever) the Face of thy Lord,- full of Majesty, Bounty and Honour

verse 28

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 29

يَسۡـَٔلُهُۥ مَن فِي ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِۚ كُلَّ يَوۡمٍ هُوَ فِي شَأۡنࣲ

Translation: Of Him seeks (its need) every creature in the heavens and on earth: every day in (new) Splendour doth He (shine)

verse 30

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 31

سَنَفۡرُغُ لَكُمۡ أَيُّهَ ٱلثَّقَلَانِ

Translation: Soon shall We settle your affairs, O both ye worlds

verse 32

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 33

يَٰمَعۡشَرَ ٱلۡجِنِّ وَٱلۡإِنسِ إِنِ ٱسۡتَطَعۡتُمۡ أَن تَنفُذُواْ مِنۡ أَقۡطَارِ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ فَٱنفُذُواْۚ لَا تَنفُذُونَ إِلَّا بِسُلۡطَٰنࣲ

Translation: O ye assembly of Jinns and men! If it be ye can pass beyond the zones of the heavens and the earth, pass ye! not without authority shall ye be able to pass

verse 34

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 35

يُرۡسَلُ عَلَيۡكُمَا شُوَاظࣱ مِّن نَّارࣲ وَنُحَاسࣱ فَلَا تَنتَصِرَانِ

Translation: On you will be sent (O ye evil ones twain!) a flame of fire (to burn) and a smoke (to choke): no defence will ye have

verse 36

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 37

فَإِذَا ٱنشَقَّتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ وَرۡدَةࣰ كَٱلدِّهَانِ

Translation: When the sky is rent asunder, and it becomes red like ointment

verse 38

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 39

فَيَوۡمَئِذࣲ لَّا يُسۡـَٔلُ عَن ذَنۢبِهِۦٓ إِنسࣱ وَلَا جَآنࣱّ

Translation: On that Day no question will be asked of man or Jinn as to his sin

verse 40

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 41

يُعۡرَفُ ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ بِسِيمَٰهُمۡ فَيُؤۡخَذُ بِٱلنَّوَٰصِي وَٱلۡأَقۡدَامِ

Translation: (For) the sinners will be known by their marks: and they will be seized by their forelocks and their feet

verse 42

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 43

هَٰذِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ ٱلَّتِي يُكَذِّبُ بِهَا ٱلۡمُجۡرِمُونَ

Translation: This is the Hell which the Sinners deny

verse 44

يَطُوفُونَ بَيۡنَهَا وَبَيۡنَ حَمِيمٍ ءَانࣲ

Translation: In its midst and in the midst of boiling hot water will they wander round

verse 45

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 46

وَلِمَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ جَنَّتَانِ

Translation: But for such as fear the time when they will stand before (the Judgment Seat of) their Lord, there will be two Gardens

verse 47

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 48

ذَوَاتَآ أَفۡنَانࣲ

Translation: Containing all kinds (of trees and delights)

verse 49

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 50

فِيهِمَا عَيۡنَانِ تَجۡرِيَانِ

Translation: In them (each) will be two Springs flowing (free)

verse 51

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 52

فِيهِمَا مِن كُلِّ فَٰكِهَةࣲ زَوۡجَانِ

Translation: In them will be Fruits of every kind, two and two

verse 53

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 54

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ فُرُشِۭ بَطَآئِنُهَا مِنۡ إِسۡتَبۡرَقࣲۚ وَجَنَى ٱلۡجَنَّتَيۡنِ دَانࣲ

Translation: They will recline on Carpets, whose inner linings will be of rich brocade: the Fruit of the Gardens will be near (and easy of reach)

verse 55

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 56

فِيهِنَّ قَٰصِرَٰتُ ٱلطَّرۡفِ لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنࣱّ

Translation: In them will be (Maidens), chaste, restraining their glances, whom no man or Jinn before them has touched

verse 57

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 58

كَأَنَّهُنَّ ٱلۡيَاقُوتُ وَٱلۡمَرۡجَانُ

Translation: Like unto Rubies and coral

verse 59

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 60

هَلۡ جَزَآءُ ٱلۡإِحۡسَٰنِ إِلَّا ٱلۡإِحۡسَٰنُ

Translation: Is there any Reward for Good - other than Good

verse 61

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 62

وَمِن دُونِهِمَا جَنَّتَانِ

Translation: And besides these two, there are two other Gardens

verse 63

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 64

مُدۡهَآمَّتَانِ

Translation: Dark-green in colour (from plentiful watering)

verse 65

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 66

فِيهِمَا عَيۡنَانِ نَضَّاخَتَانِ

Translation: In them (each) will be two Springs pouring forth water in continuous abundance

verse 67

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 68

فِيهِمَا فَٰكِهَةࣱ وَنَخۡلࣱ وَرُمَّانࣱ

Translation: In them will be Fruits, and dates and pomegranates

verse 69

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 70

فِيهِنَّ خَيۡرَٰتٌ حِسَانࣱ

Translation: In them will be fair (Companions), good, beautiful

verse 71

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 72

حُورࣱ مَّقۡصُورَٰتࣱ فِي ٱلۡخِيَامِ

Translation: Companions restrained (as to their glances), in (goodly) pavilions

verse 73

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 74

لَمۡ يَطۡمِثۡهُنَّ إِنسࣱ قَبۡلَهُمۡ وَلَا جَآنࣱّ

Translation: Whom no man or Jinn before them has touched

verse 75

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 76

مُتَّكِـِٔينَ عَلَىٰ رَفۡرَفٍ خُضۡرࣲ وَعَبۡقَرِيٍّ حِسَانࣲ

Translation: Reclining on green Cushions and rich Carpets of beauty

verse 77

فَبِأَيِّ ءَالَآءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ

Translation: Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny

verse 78

تَبَٰرَكَ ٱسۡمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي ٱلۡجَلَٰلِ وَٱلۡإِكۡرَامِ

Translation: Blessed be the name of thy Lord, full of Majesty, Bounty and Honour
